Also known as a disaster recovery plan, the business continuity plan, or BCP, is the document by which you manage your organization following a critical loss of functions, resources, or personnel. Commonly written with natural disasters such as hurricanes, tornadoes, or earthquakes in mind, BCPs might also address continuity and recovery following situations such as terrorist attacks, cyber attacks, or facility fires. The BCP, which is important for organizations of all sizes, is like an insurance policy—you hope you don’t need it, but without it, your organization may never recover from a disaster.
